VFX Final: Hand Cannon

Just realized that I hadn't posted this yet. I finished my VFX project about a week and a half ago. So here it is for all of you to see.

Or click here for the video on vimeo.
It was fun making this, but at the same time during the last 2 weeks I was a zombie surviving on almost no sleep. I personally wished the tracking worked out better but over all I kinda proud of what I did within a short time (originally had more time but I lost footage so I had to re-shoot,  light, track, and basically everything within the last 2 weeks). Hope you enjoyed.

Well, until next time...

March Cycle :)

Last week I made a cycle just for the fun of it (more like I was a little stressed and needed a simple animation to calm me down). Well anyway I had fun doing this one. The last walk cycle I made in my second semester I didn't like and because of that I didn't post it. So... this is the first walk cycle I posted since I started the animation program.
Without further ado (who still says that?!?!?! :/ ) here is the march cycle :P

So, until next time...

Below is the a print screen of my nuke file.

And here is the final test render

Well I have four more weeks to finish this thing so it's time to go into over drive!!!!

Animation: The Jump

Hey guys made this really short animation on friday. I was trying to imitate a Loonytoons style. I basically figured that anilysing and immitating animation is a great way to learn. It's just like copying, imitating and learning to draw from you fav artist to get better at drawing.

Below is the blocking poses.

Below is the finished animation

In this test I got to learn how squash and stretch was incorporated into the character to accentuate arcs and smooth out motion. as usual in all my animation I played with timing. unfortunately I had a deadline for myself  and didn't do as much as I wanted(Note to self: fix the fingers).

well until next time...

September Animation (WIP): Update #1

So I worked a little more on this last night and with just over a week left I'm running out of time so i better get crack'n.

I could honestly say that the work on this update was harder than the stuff i did before. For the first time in any of my animations I get to put a lot of thought into the facial animation. Usually I do long shots so the facial animation is kinda put off because you can hardly see the face and this is also a slower lip sync.

Well, untill next time...

September Animation (WIP)

It's really late and I'm way to tired to write anything extravigent(except for big words like that =/ )... just watch the video. It's a work in progress I'm working on. feedback is always welcome

so until next time...

Thursday, August 30, 2012

Hey guys, I've been real bored over the break between semesters and I am continuously adding to my gigantic list of projects to finish (as if it weren't big enough).

This time I have this video to blame. At the end of the video he says make a video involving peanuts and raisins. So I took some time to think of something and of course I had to think of an animation, But this time not in 3D. This one will be 2D (but depending on how i feel I might try to incorporate both). Well this is how I'm coming along.

(I'm still making changes thus I didn't post the end.)

(I also found out that I will have to make changes to this too.)

I matched the colours together I the two characters moved at the same time. I didn't put them on one page because I think it would be pretty confusing considering they don't really have any characteristics to set them apart at the moment.

These are peanuts poses above

Those are raisins Poses below

I plan to use these as guides later for when I draw each frame on separate pages. I find it easier to get the feeling of the movement when it's on one page then I can play with the timing later after I've drawn out each of the frames of the main poses.

Well until next time...

Let's just say I have a lot of time on my hands, and I can't live on the computer forever. so this is simply a product of boredom.

The next VFX assignment begins!!!!

So as some of you may or may not know I failed horribly on my last vfx assignment so I have to do it again. Hey it's a learning experience, better now while I'm still in school than later when I'm being paid for it.

This time I'm starting early (not really my style but I the an idea, a little excited and I had to get it out while i still could remember it), I got my storyboard done and some concept work started.

Panel 1: Character (most likely me) drops into the scene.
Panel 2: Character stands up and camera tilts and zooms in on the character then he powers up the glove as he says, "It's, garbage day" then starts walking .
Panel 3: Camera cuts behind the character as the character walks into the distance as he shoot plasma blasts (or what ever power comes out of his gloves, I haven't completely figured that out yet) at the garbage on the side of the road.

Glove Concept

I haven't fully finished this and it's really rough but at least I have something to start off with.

This seems some what like a lot of work but I have fewer classes this semester, so I'll have the time to learn to do the things that I don't know (like making the blasts actually look like blasts). Other than that I don't think I'll have much problems with the learning aspect which means I'll have more time to make mistakes (which always arise) and at the same time make this look really good.

I have already made started and almost finished the glove model (unfortunately Maya has been crashing on me so i gave up trying to get a picture today).

So, until next time...

Guess Who?

Hey ladies and gents, I randomly decided to take up a new little project during my break. based on the pictures below can you guess what it is? If you guess that I'm making a 3D model of myself the you win absolutely nothing!!!!

Saturday, August 18, 2012

Now I present to you a video I call "Spit It Out"

I have finally finished my VFX assignment, and boy was that a task of countless all nighters. I guess that means I should really work on my time management. there are a few decisions I feel I should change but time has run out and I doubt I'll go back to it.

Into The Deep End

I made this video to test particles and soft bodies in maya for a school project. the animation is only at a key poses stage which was done very quickly so there will be alot of animation mistakes. Enjoy

Thursday, May 24, 2012

Finally got an idea  for my VFX project. so basically a monster is going to be throwing up a train.

Rough Schedule Due Dates

film: June 1
model rig: June 15
animation: June 29
dynamics: July 13
post: July 27

extra time is the rest  of the semester because I know I'll need it.

Best Left to the Professionals

Over the past few weeks I have been working my but off on a bunch of projects for all of my classes, but today I only plan on showing you an animation lip sync I've completed.

Audio: "Please don't think we're ungrateful for your enthusiasm, Mrs. Crawley, but there comes a time when things are best left to the professionals."

Personal Note

Although the lip sync didn't turn out that bad I feel I could have been more organized while planning this out, and during my posing stage I didn't have a clear idea of what my animation was going to look like. Because of this I feel I wasted a lot of time in he beginning and rushed most of the work just before the dead line.

Day:???... ummm..... ya, FROG MODEL!!!

Hey guys, today I modelled and UV'd my character for my character modelling and rigging class.

Day:???... ummm..... ya, FROG MODEL!!!

Wednesday, March 28, 2012

Alright who did this? I'm not mad I just wanna know so I can punish em'.

Hey everyone, it's been a while!!!! I finally decided to upload something here. For the past few weeks (I think about 3 weeks) I have been working on a lip sync. My Idea was that the devil found a halo in hell (HOW BOUT THAT SHEEEEIT).

I started out my main poses in stepped

Then added the breakdowns

Last was a little finesse

I would have went farther with this but I ran out of time and there came the deadline so wateva.

Day 53: AHHHHH I'M FALLING... in a dream?

Hey peeps I technically made this yesterday just before midnight, but was to busy to post it on here. It is once again another digital painting I'm sure there is tones more I could do on it but... wat evs (what ever). I wanted to draw something random and so I did. I had some inspiration from Finn in Adventure Time. would have made this a litle different but I have messed up with my layers in photoshop so I had to do what I could with it.

since he character looks like it s falling I'll call this one.... Day 53: AHHHHH I'M FALLING... in a dream?

Day 52: All nighter...digi-paint

While I was taking a break this morning from my walk cycle, I decided to do a digi-painting. nothing special just needed the creative juices to flow without sleeping during my all nighter.

Day 52: All nighter...digi-paint

Day 49: Pinocchio

Hey Peeps, today... or i should say yesterday I drew a Pinocchio in Photoshop. I got the inspiration from adreas deja's Blog Deja View. In one of the recent post adreas talks about frank Thomas and how he animated Pinocchio

so once again another day is completed...Day 49: Pinocchio

Monday, February 13, 2012

Day 44: Ayyy BoBo

Hey guys I drew a few drawings a few days ago but never got around to scanning it...... And I still haven't gotten around to it. I do have a digital painting of yogi and bobo I coloured. The line drawing was taken from a Patrick Owsley's blog. I only coloured the picture in Photoshop. I'm basically just trying to get use to using a stylist/tablet.
so here is the drawing (or painting) of the day...... Day 44: Ayyy BoBo

Day 40: Side Project

Hey guys I may not have told you that i have started a side project. This side project is going to be a very short film. Today I was designing the character for the film. Here is two pictures of the same character in different clothing. I still may make changes but I'll probably stick with this.

Sooo.... Day 40: Side Project

Day 32: Unfinished Space Suit

Hey guys, I'm in kinda a hurry, so this will be short i made this space suit today. I like it but don't feel like finishing it (bad habit, I know).

So once again Day 32: Unfinished Space Suit

Wednesday, January 25, 2012

I have figured out what the hard part to daily blogs. It's not making the content but it's finding the time to upload it everyday, so I Guess I'll continue on this route of just uploading when I have the time.
any ways today I thought I'd try my hand in digital painting. I hope that I get faster and better and more comfortable with a tablet as I get more practise.

So here we go again... Day 25: DIGITAL

Day 14: Coloured!!!

Yesterday I made a picture for my class and today I coloured it. I think I'm going to start using these markers more often because I like the effect.

soooooo Day 14: Coloured!!!

Day 13: Who stole the cookies from the cookie jar?

Hey guys is been a while I can sadly say that I'm not keeping up with this drawing daily thing, but today I do have a quick sketch for ya. It's for my story boarding class. We have to draw one picture to describe my story for my short film idea. Since this is clearly not readable I'll try to explain it to you. It is basically a little girl trying to get the cookie jar on the top shelf. Still don't get it? maybe if I told you it's from an over view perspective you may get it. Still don't get it? well your on your own : P

That's all for today so... Day 13: Who stole the cookies from the cookie jar?

Day 10: Teacher Drawing Fail

Today is the big 10!!! sadly I haven't actually drawn each day but i try to make up for it on other days. Today isn't that day. I drew my teacher in a bit of a cartoony way (not ultra cartoony but also not realistic). In fact i don't even think it looks like him. I guess I'll consider this one a fail. Not because it's not drawn well (it's no where near perfect though) but because it doesn't exactly look like him. I'll try this teacher or another one another day and see if I'm more successful.

Aaaanywaaaays Day 10: Teacher Drawing Fail

Day 7, 8, and 9: Bob the Chubby Space Marine

Day 7, 8, and 9 have been busy for me. With school starting I've been busy cleaning my room before I leave and moving. Anyways during the past three days i have drawn 2 pages, I know it's sad but it gets better I have finally made another part of "Bob the Blob in Hole". Well as I had said before that I'd show you how I make my Chubby Buddies. I had drawn the second page while waiting for "WarHammer: Space Marines" loaded up. Sadly I ran out of space while drawing on that blaster thingy.

So here we go again Day 7, 8, and 9: Bob the Chubby Space Marine

Saturday, January 7, 2012

Day 6: Professor Crumbs Buddy

Hey guys I sorry that I'm late with this one. I had drawn it earlier but forgot to upload it when i started animating. Anyways yesterday i said that i would show you a chubby buddy character (cute ;-) ) I wanted to show how i made this easy character but i guess I'll leave that for another day.

So here goes Day 6: Professor Crumbs Buddy

Click here to see what Professor Crumbs from "Wizards of Waverly" Place looks like.

Day 5: WHC "Heavy Weight Character"

I was watching a monster coin teaser and I got motivated to draw a heavy character because I don't do them often and would really like to be able to do them easily. my style of character has been skinny or cute (I'll draw a chubby buddy tomorrow to show you a cute one) for as long as i could remember. well that's not exactly true, I use to like to draw muscular characters because i was influenced by super heroes. That was also before i started taking drawing and animation seriously so i never really looked into human anatomy, took life drawing classes (I was also to young), so i didn't know how a muscle looked like. I could sadly say I'm not still exactly good at drawing muscles off the top of my mind but i defiantly understand it now since I've been taking life drawing classes.

Any ways here goes, Day 5: WHC "Heavy Weight Character"

Day 4: Leap Year

Hey guys, today i realized that its a leap year and that there are 366 days and that is what inspired me to draw this horrid drawing (sorry :P).

So here we go Day 4: Leap Year

Tuesday, January 3, 2012

Day 3: Reapers and scientists

Today is day 3 of my "365 days of drawing. This time i got inspiration from "Seikon no Qwaser" a ridiculousness perverted show with some good fight scenes. I also got inspiration from "The Jeff Rubin Jeff Rubin show" (not a typo). I the episode i was listening to they were talking about mad scientist for a few seconds so i drew one.

One thing i noticed i had problems with were hands so I'll defiantly have to work on that. I also couldn't think of a face for my reaper character thats why there are so many failed attemps at the bottom.

Anyways here goes Day 3: Reapers and scientists.

Monday, January 2, 2012

Day 2: The Princess and the... Pig?

Today I had a little inspiration from "The Big Bang Theory", "Super Mario" and once again from "clutch cargo" (just a random oil pipe I saw).

So Here goes day 2: The Princess and the... Pig?

Day 1: New years resolution

I've decided to draw at least one page a day and post it here. I'll draw anything, my own stuff, already existing cartoons, stuff from life, or just literally anything else. So here is the beginning of  "365 days of drawing"

I was watching a dvd of old cartoon (which i do a lot) that i have and I had the unfortunate pleasure of watching clutch cargo. Although the animation is horrid, I actually like the art work.
